Terms and Conditions
Welcome to Guana Shuttle. These terms govern all private transfer services booked through guanashuttle.com, operated by VALCA Tours, a Costa Rican company with more than 20 years of experience in tourism transportation. By booking with us, you accept these terms.
1. Service Scope
Guana Shuttle provides private, door-to-door ground transportation in Costa Rica, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from our base in Sámara, Guanacaste. Every transfer is private: the vehicle is exclusively for you and your group, from the pickup point you indicate to your destination — no strangers on board and no fixed routes.
2. Bookings and Confirmation
Bookings are made online at guanashuttle.com. When booking, please provide the exact pickup address, your preferred pickup time, the number of passengers and, for airport pickups, your flight number. Your booking is confirmed once online payment is completed and you receive our confirmation message. If any detail of your trip changes, please let us know as soon as possible so we can adjust the service.
3. Prices and Payment
Our rates are per vehicle, not per person. The published price covers groups of 1 to 5 passengers; each additional passenger from the 6th onward adds USD 15 to the fare (USD 20 on San José routes). Maximum 9 passengers per vehicle. Payment is made online through PayPal at the time of booking. The price covers the vehicle, the driver and the transfer as booked.
4. Pickup Times, Flight Monitoring and Waiting
We are punctual, and we ask the same of you. For airport pickups we monitor your flight using the flight number you provide: if your flight is delayed, we adjust your pickup at no extra cost. We include up to 60 minutes of waiting after your flight lands at airports, and up to 15 minutes at hotels, homes and other addresses. If you need more time, contact us — we will always try to help.
5. Changes and Cancellations
You may change the date, time or details of your transfer free of charge up to 24 hours before pickup, subject to availability. Cancellations made at least 48 hours before the scheduled pickup receive a full refund. Cancellations after that point, and no-shows, are non-refundable. Refunds are issued through the original payment method (PayPal) and may take up to 10 business days to process.
6. Passenger Responsibilities
Please be ready at the agreed place and time, and make sure the information in your booking is accurate. Passengers must wear seat belts, treat the driver and the vehicle with respect, and refrain from any illegal or dangerous behavior on board. Minors must always travel accompanied by a responsible adult; child seats are available if requested when you book. The driver may refuse or end the service, without refund, if a passenger’s conduct puts the safety of the trip at risk.
7. Luggage and Personal Belongings
While your belongings are inside our vehicle, they are under our care — we look after them as if they were our own. Please bring reasonable luggage for the size of your group, and tell us in advance about oversized items such as surfboards or bicycles so we can send the right vehicle. We are not responsible for what happens to you or your belongings before we pick you up or after we drop you off. If you forget something in the vehicle, contact us: we will do our best to recover it and get it back to you; shipping costs, if any, are covered by the client.
8. Insurance and Liability
All of our insurance policies are current and in force: our service is fully insured. From the moment we pick you up until the moment we drop you off, we take care of everything. Our liability covers the transportation service itself; it does not extend to events outside the service, including anything that happens before pickup, after drop-off, or during activities that are not part of the transfer.
9. Delays and Force Majeure
Costa Rican roads sometimes bring surprises: weather, landslides, road closures or heavy traffic. In these situations we will do everything reasonably possible — taking alternate routes and keeping you informed at all times. However, we are not responsible for indirect losses, such as missed flights or connections, caused by events beyond our control. For airport drop-offs, we recommend booking your pickup with a generous time buffer.
