Twenty years ago, on the winding coastal roads of the Nicoya Peninsula, Berny Valverde Calderón set out with little more than a steady hand at the wheel and a name that carried his own: VALCA — Valverde Calderón Tours. His first routes served the quiet shores of Punta Islita, back when getting there was half the adventure.

From day one, the company stood on four ideals: punctuality, honesty, safety, and efficiency. In a region where the road can be as unpredictable as the weather, those values made all the difference — and word traveled. Two decades later, VALCA has become one of the farthest-reaching transport companies in the Sámara area, trusted by businesses across Sámara, Nosara, and Punta Islita, with hundreds of satisfied travelers every year.
